About Us

Our Vision

Swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone

Swim Drink Fish strives to create swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. This vision is to connect people to water by giving communities access to information and empowering them to act. Our vision has come to fruition, and continues to grow, thanks to the power of community-based action.

Our Mission

Connecting people with water

Connection leads to protection. It reads simple, but if you go beneath the surface of that sentence, we find a solution to issues and problems we’ve known about for over a century. The simple act of connecting people to water is the greatest action we can take. It is the catalyst in empowering a community to protect its water.

Our Impact

Our Values

Scientific Integrity

All of the data collected by Swim Drink Fish is upheld to rigorous scientific standards. We update our protocols based on the most current recommendations from the scientific community and only publish data that has passed all quality control/ quality assurance standards.

Data Transparency

We believe that communities have a right to understand their water quality and local pollution concerns. Every piece of data collected at Swim Drink Fish is publicly available, and we advocate for others to follow-suit when it is appropriate and beneficial to the community.

Community Science and Education

We prioritize our work based on the needs of communities. We reduce barriers to learning about and participating in science to inform and empower communities to take action about their local waters.

Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Swim Drink Fish movement strives to welcome and include community-members from many different cultural, linguistic, and national backgrounds. We believe that diverse perspectives and ideas make us stronger as an organisation.
