Foundation for Environmental Education
Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is the world’s largest environmental education organization. FEE’s headquarters are in Copenhagen, Denmark and it administers five programs: Eco-Schools, LEAF, Young Reporters for the Environment, Green Key, and Blue Flag.
FEE’s iconic Blue Flag program operates in 48 countries. Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary eco-labels awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
Since 2020, Swim Drink Fish awards Blue Flags in Canada on FEE’s behalf. Blue Flag Canada connects you to a network of world-class beaches and marinas.

“Being a Blue Flag was so helpful in Swim Drink Fish’s work in reconnecting Torontonians, and visitors, to Bluffers Beach. Before 2006, Bluffers suffered from some of the worst water quality in all of Toronto. Now, it's the number one swimming destination in Canada’s most populated city, with regular passing of water quality above 90% on Swim Guide. Bluffers is the example of what happens when you connect a community to its waterfront again.”
